Aviation Projects (Funded)

Each county, in cooperation with their principal city, in the GCLMPO Study Area operates a general aviation airport. These airports have historically applied for funding and worked closely with the NCDOT’s Aviation Division. Due to changes in project solicitation and prioritization through STI, airport projects now compete with other projects for funding through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). One project to improve the approach to the runway at the Lincoln County-Lincolnton Airport, was included in the MPO’s Division Tier prioritized project list.
