Transportation Projects

The Gaston-Cleveland-Lincoln MPO reviews the environmental and design documents for all proposed transportation projects in the tri-county region. MPO staff consult with local planning, public works, and environmental staff to ensure any reviews and designs include local input and concerns. Please click on one of the links on the right-hand side of this page to learn more about MPO comments on bridge, road, and bicycle and pedestrian projects. The most recent status of transportation projects can be found here.

Merger is a process to streamline the project development and permitting processes, agreed to by the USACE, NCDENR (DWQ, DCM), FHWA and NCDOT and supported by other stakeholder agencies and local units of government. To this effect, the Merger process provides a forum for appropriate agency representatives to discuss and reach consensus on ways to facilitate meeting the regulatory requirements of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act during the NEPA/SEPA decision-making phase of transportation projects.
